Macron’s Strategy: A Desperate Gamble – The Use of Article 16: Historical Context
Article 16 of the French constitution was designed to provide the President with extraordinary powers in times of national crisis. Actually this is incorrect. Jean-Luc Melenchon, came from behind to eke out a victory with 182 seats in parliament ahead of President Macron’s centrist ‘Together’ coalition on 168. Le pen didnt do as well as people thought. It’s the hard left party which has come out in front, the NFP- new popular front. The riots are because the French hate macron, hate all the immigration and want change but macron can stay where he is for another 2 years! It will kick off big time. The French love a riot.
