The True Meaning of Resurrection in Our Hearts

Growing up in a household that married two rich traditions—Catholic on my mother’s side and Orthodox on my father’s—I was blessed to celebrate not one, but two Easters each year. This unique upbringing brought with it an annual period of profound reflection and a questioning of the deeper meanings behind these observances.
From the tender age of understanding, the concept of Jesus’ resurrection was presented to me in two different lights, guided by the Gregorian and Julian calendars. It was a curious thing to grasp as a child: the same divine miracle, celebrated twice, often weeks apart. “If all churches affirm Jesus was born on the sacred night of Christmas,” I often wondered, “why then do they mark His resurrection on differing days?” This riddle plagued my young mind and laid the foundation for a lifelong quest for spiritual authenticity.
As I grew older, my reverence for the teachings of Jesus remained unwavering, but my patience for ecclesiastical contradictions waned. The leaders of our churches, revered yet distant, seemed to tread over the very essence of what I believed. The resurrection is not merely an event to be observed but a renewal to be experienced each day. On March 31, amidst the quiet of an early spring morning, I found myself declaring, “Christ is risen!”—not in echo of the liturgical calendar but in celebration of a personal truth rediscovered anew each day.
This revelation, powerful yet simple, is that the resurrection of Jesus need not be confined to a date on the calendar. It is a daily resurgence in our hearts, a testament to the teachings of love, compassion, and renewal that Jesus imparted. Whether on a chilly April morning or a warm May day, each sunrise offers a moment for the resurrection to unfold within us, reminding us of the promise of new beginnings and eternal hope.
As a journalist, I’ve always believed in the power of words to stir the soul, to challenge the intellect, and to offer comfort. Today, I write not just to share a personal story, but to extend an invitation to you, dear reader, to find your own path to spiritual awakening. Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts that i totally concur with.
What religious leaders unfortunately or intentionally forget is that it is Christ, that is the real light of the world.
Further to this, the laity tend to forget what Jesus said to His Disciples, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5: 14-19
Hence, being a Christian is a lot more than attending church on Sunday mornings or celebrating Easter once a year. Certainly this is part of what it means to be a Christian. But during the rest of the time, we have another role that is even more important – to be a light to the world, to share the light of Christ with the world.
Jesus encourages us to let our light “so shine before men that they may see (our) good works and give glory to (our) Father who is in heaven.” (5:16) The Christian life is not just about being good and doing good works. It’s about being the light of Christ in the world. The good works we do should not be ends to themselves or a means to bring credit to ourselves. The good works should give glory to God and serve as a witness to Him. This is the ideal.
On Orthodox Easter or Pascha as we call it, we celebrate the Resurrection by lighting candles. This act reminds us not only that the Light of Christ cannot be overcome by darkness, but that we carry this Light within us everywhere we go. It’s not the physical candle that makes us alight with Christ, but the fire which burns in our hearts and souls. The Gospel read every Easter is a reminder to keep that Light strong and to share it.

I’ve only in recent years have been awakened to come back to The Lord. Religion was not part of my upbringing then as a young teen a step parent tried to impose it on me suddenly. Needless to say, it didn’t take. I also had observed great Hypocrocy around me by those claiming to be walking with The Lord. But lately, WITH WITNESSING WHAT SEEMS TO BE PURE EVIL HERE ON THE PLANET, DOING GOD AWFUL THINGS, I FINALLY REALIZED , THE BETTER HALF OF THE STORY MUST ALSO EXIST. Now here I am, hopefully helping to fulfill his will through me, every day, so many opportunities present themselves, of him creating opportunities for me… Praise Jesus.
And with everything going on in the world today, there is nothing to fear, God has got this, GOD ALWAYS WINS! This will posture to look like a nuclear war most likely, they may even put a nuclear missile in the air, but with the full array of laser-armed satellites up in the sky now, it doesn’t have a chance of getting anywhere, it will be instantly vaporized, nuclear material and all. NOTHING TO FEAR!

I appreciate your testimony of the Risen Lord. I’m a retired Ph.D. research scientist and a graduate of M.I.T. in Physics. When I started M.I.T. I was an agnostic. However – making a long story short – I acquired summer work (1961) in Germany between my 2nd and 3rd year at M.I.T. It was there – on a week end – when I made the long auto trip through the East Zone into West Berlin. I visited a friend of mine, whom I hadn’t seen for a couple of years. He explained to me what he was doing in Germany. I was intrigued and asked him for some literature on the subject of his activities in Germany.
I had to get back to my work before Monday; however, among the literature he gave me was a copy of The Book of Mormon. I had been raised a Protestant and knew of the animosity of the Christian world at that time against those who profess to believe in The Book of Mormon. However, M.I.T. had taught me to examine a subject as a true scientist would do without preconceived beliefs on the subject. Hence, I dove into reading all the literature that my friend gave me, including The Book of Mormon. When I finished that monumental reading, I made it a matter of sincere prayer one evening before retiring as to the authenticity of this book, The Book of Mormon. After I concluded my prayer I lay in bed pondering all that I had been reading and studying over the previous two weeks, when the Holy Ghost came upon me and bore witness to me of the truth of this book, The Book of Mormon. I then knew as I do now that this book is truly the word of God and is a second witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This knowledge and testimony changed the whole course of my life.
In short, The Book of Mormon is – like the New Testament – an inspired record written by ancient prophets of God from one of the lost tribes of Israel of their journeying from Jerusalem around 600 B.C. until their demise as a civilized nation around 421 A.D. Shortly after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, He appeared to these people and taught them His gospel. He instructed them to replace the pre-Christ covenants of the Old Testament, which they had followed since their exit from Jerusalem, with His gospel. Here is just a sampling of this appearance of the Risen Lord unto this branch of the House of Israel:
3 Nephi 11:1-14
1 And now it came to pass that there were a great multitude gathered together, of the people of Nephi, round about the temple which was in the land Bountiful; and they were marveling and wondering one with another, and were showing one to another the great and marvelous change which had taken place.
2 And they were also conversing about this Jesus Christ, of whom the sign had been given concerning his death.
3 And it came to pass that while they were thus conversing one with another, they heard a voice as if it came out of heaven; and they cast their eyes round about, for they understood not the voice which they heard; and it was not a harsh voice, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn.
4 And it came to pass that again they heard the voice, and they understood it not.
5 And again the third time they did hear the voice, and did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came.

10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.
12 And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude fell to the earth; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself unto them after his ascension into heaven.
13 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying:
14 Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.
As a scientist I have studied the ancient Hebrew literary styles, particularly chiasmus, which wasn’t even discovered within Holy text, such as the Bible, until after the Book of Mormon was published. The Book of Mormon was found to be replete with chiasmic structures in addition to several other Hebrew literary styles. Despite all this, my real testimony of the authenticity of The Book of Mormon came through study and prayer via the Holy Ghost. I know from personal revelation that it is true.

Personally : I’ve lost a young sister in a car accident in 1991
Had a personal accident – distal bicep 2017 was unable to reconnect due to poor hospital care.
I lost my mum age 74 to C-19 in 2021 but found out it was only Gastroenteritis due to poor care after paying for private toxicology tests.
I’m not after any sympathy and know many others have had far worse experiences than me.
I do believe though, they have been killing OAPs under lockdown and noting C-19, they are purposely depopulating the world and destroying family values and heterosexual relationships – but why ?
I’m unsure if all the other conspiracies on the site are true though!!!
I’m still yet to see hard evidence of cloning, election cheating, child sex trafficking, devil worshipping and the hangings and arrests at Guantanamo Bay.
I do wish it was true and we saw justice!!!!
