Poll: Americans Really Don’t Want a Central Bank Digital Currency

It seems like our champions of liberty have not yet been extinguished.
The survey was conducted in collaboration with the prolific data analysis firm YouGov, scrutinizing public opinion between February 27 and March 8. Nearly half of our compatriots were blissfully ignorant of this looming monetary revolution. However, for those who had an inkling about the impending change, the scales tilted heavily against the CBDC. Over twice as many participants – a whopping 34 percent – boldly stood against this intrusive concept compared to a meager 16 percent who supported it.
This heartening revelation should fuel the fires of every freedom-loving American. With the knowledge of this potent danger being limited, the undecided majority can be illuminated on the abusive powers this innocuous-looking CBDC can harbor.
The Cato Institute’s Emily Ekins and Jordan Gygi, in their comprehensive article, have expressed concern about the glaring risk this initiative presents to our cherished liberties. The results are astounding: Seventy-four percent would vehemently reject a CBDC if it provided the government with the power to control their spending. Sixty-eight percent rejected the prospect of government spying on their expenses or the abolition of all US cash.
This wave of concern does not stop there: 65 percent of participants fear a sudden spike in cyberattacks, 64 percent dread the imposition of a bizarre tax during recessions on those who choose not to spend, and 59 percent are horrified at the thought of their digital bank accounts being frozen for political dissent. Half of the participants were marginally against a CBDC if it threatened the existence of private banks, leading to their potential bankruptcy. The ramifications of these concerns are alarming, to say the least.
The winds of resistance have already begun blowing through the political arena, and the fight against CBDC has found powerful allies. The current runners-up in the Republican and Democratic presidential primaries, Ron DeSantis and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., are vocally against the CBDC. Their opposition represents a glimmer of hope, a light at the end of the tunnel that suggests that we, the people, might triumph in the end. Will more politicians stand tall with them in this battle against the forces that threaten our freedom?
The fight is far from over, though. We need to be vigilant, actively striving to enlighten those around us about the inherent risks of a CBDC in America. The revealing poll from the Cato Institute serves as a beacon, suggesting that our brethren are open to understanding and, indeed, sharing our concerns. We need to raise our voices, stand tall, and let the world know that we will not silently acquiesce to the threat posed by the Federal Reserve and the US government.
In conclusion, the story is clear – Americans don’t want a CBDC.
They want their freedom, their right to privacy, their ability to control their financial destiny. And while the mighty and powerful may be testing the waters for a potential CBDC rollout, the people have spoken. They have raised their voices against this potential assault on their rights. In the end, it’s the power of the people that will decide whether the US will become a battleground for financial freedom or succumb to the iron grip of the CBDC.
And so, we remain vigilant, watching, waiting, and ready to act. We are Americans – freedom and privacy are not just words to us; they are principles we are willing to fight for.
